New Year, New Me

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas ~ I took the decorations down and I'm in the process of giving our home a good cleaning. I'm also going through my closet and have decided to give myself a bit of a makeover. I actually bought a few pairs of really nice jeans. Don't worry, I'm not giving up my romantic style, it's just that at the age of 52 I'm wanting to look a bit more "polished", especially when I go out and about. I think I'm really going to enjoy mixing up my vintage lace with denim.

I've been having lots of fun on Pinterest collecting fashion ideas! If you'd like to see, you can check out my pinterest board ~ the link is on my sidebar.

Have a safe and Happy New Year

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Rose

Christmas Rose this Christmas Morn,
Methinks I hear thee softly say
"In Bethlehem a Child was born
Who bled to take my thorn away!"
Hence musing thus through Earthly bowers
Oh, let us look from them to those
Where shines the King ~ The flower of flowers ~
The great ~ the one true CHRISTMAS ROSE!

A few more photos to share...

Hope

Tis the Season

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
~ Emily Dickinson

With all the happened this past week in Connecticut, I know some have found it hard to be in the Christmas Spirit. More than ever I find myself leaning on God and prayer. A quote from Charles DIckens A Christmas Carol sums up how I feel... “I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.”
Tomorrow I'll share a few Christmasy photos from our little Rose Cottage. Before you know it Christmas will be upon us!

Random Thoughts

Now the Christmas tree sits shyly In the corner of the room, Like a shining beam of brightness In the dismal winter gloom, All aglow with tiny twinkles Of a hundred fairy lights Dancing round shy, trembling branches In the dark December nights.

~ C Richard MilesThe Shy Christmas Tree

Went for a walk this morning to discover the pink Camellias are beginning to bloom. Just a wee bit early, as they usually make their arrival in January. The weather has been unseasonably warm, even for the south.

Not too long ago we attended a local festival where I picked up this little Indian deerskin medicine bag with a pretty butterfly. I keep my rose quartz crystal tucked inside.

An American Indian Legend
If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it. As a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly can not reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all. In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly freedom, the Great Spirit will always grant the wish. So, according to legend, by making a wish and giving the butterfly its freedom, the wish will be taken to the heavens to be granted.

Today I made some Pink Peppermint Rose foot soak. A nice treat for tired tootsies after a long day of baking up Christmas treats. Tied up with a pretty ribbon and a rose along with a vintage silver spoon for scooping.

Now what does a girl wear while decorating the tree? Pink and lace of course!

I still have a bit more decorating to do and will share more photos soon. Our Crèche is the last thing I display.

Hope you are all having a happy weekend!
