Vintage Me

"Spring, full of sweet days and roses, a box where sweets compacted lie."
George Herbert

I Don't think I'll ever outgrow my love of feminine style clothing.  I now wear some great crops from J Jill. They are a pull-on style that I really like and I don't have to yank up my pants all day. I have a smallish waist, so I always have a hard time finding small enough bottoms without venturing into the dreaded juniors section.
I love Spring.  I can finally where lighter clothing which somehow makes me feel more feminine. My husband surprised with a few delights from April Cornell. I just love her line of clothing.

Pretty camisole

This is a summer jacket
And I just adore this one.

I recently acquired this long white linen skirt from J Jill. Just wouldn't be Spring without a white linen skirt!

Now back to work. I'm making chicken pot pie for dinner and I want to make a few extra pie crusts to pop in the freezer. I'm taking it a bit easy today, other than hanging out laundry, sweeping and cleaning out the chicken coop I don't have much on my agenda. Perfect day to enjoy the weather and maybe get a little weeding done in the garden, I don't consider that a chore, my flowers are my delight.

A Quiet Day

Someone's not feeling good today.

Did I mention I'm not babysitting weekdays anymore? My daughter is almost done school and has a job lined up as a Veterinarian Technician.  Oh yes, and she got married in March!  March was a bit of a blur, with my Dad's funeral, my daughter's wedding and trying to get back to normal routines.
Anyway, now Jace goes to preschool/ daycare. He really seems to enjoy his time playing with other boys and girls instead of being with his ole' grandma all day!  On one hand it's nice to have my days back, and on the other hand I miss him.  Yet, I do believe ten hours a day 5 days a week would have been too much for me and to be honest, not what I want to do. I just want to be a NeNe ( as he calls me) and spoil him when he comes to visit or look after him on days when he's too sick for preschool.

Flowers and Fripperies

"That God once loved a garde we learn in Holy writ.
And seeing gardens in the Spring I well can credit it."
Winifred M. Letts

Snapdragons from my garden.

I spent the morning making cards from pretty bits and pieces.

The sun is finally shining. I hung laundry out and had a nice visit with my "Girls" (the chickens).  We've been getting anywhere from 8 to twelve eggs a day. Out of the fourteen only one doesn't lay anymore.  Lizzie is now retired, and spends her days enjoying the warm sun and the occasional dust bath.

This is the week I'm getting a lot of little things done.  My husband has knee surgery (again) next week.  Something didn't go right with the knee replacement he had, so their going back in to fix it.  Anyway, I hope you all have a pleasant week.

New Curtains and Such

"Spring would not be spring without birdsong."
Francis M. chapman

The cottage needed a bit of sprucing up, so I invested in some new curtains.  These are Pink Ticking stripe in the dining room.

This is a lovely floral called, fitting enough Cottage Garden. These are hung in our Family Room. I bought both sets from Country Curtains

Well, the garden has started to bloom.  There are tiny Jasmine blossoms all over the trellis.

Looking out my front door. It's looking pretty full, it might need a trim:)

Looking back at the house

It's been very rainy here the last few days, which meant I could putter about inside to my hearts content.

Rearranged the Dining Room china cabinet

Made some yummy pretzel bites. Recipe was off the King Arthur Flour site. I love baking, and this is one of my favorite sites. Every time I get a catalog it's like looking at the old Christmas Wishbook from Sears when I was a child!

Have a happy week.

Time seems to go so fast, doesn't it?
I've been keeping busy and productive. Feels good to get back into the swing of things.
We made and canned several jars of strawberry jam yesterday

Then I made some bread to go with the jam:)

Then I made some rose soap. Our home smells lovely!
Little mini soaps

Just took the soap out of the molds. I'm so pleased with this batch. I added rose clay for the color, rose geranium essential oil and sprinkled dried rose petals ( from my garden) on a few of them.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.

All is Well

Thank you so much friends, for the kind comments and prayers.

The potatoes are coming up! We got them in a bit late, but I think they will do fine.

Peppers and green beans beginning to sprout.

My little herb garden. At least the Rosemary looks good.

My husband just bought me this lovely Blessed Mother statue for the garden.

Yellow roses are always a welcome sight.

Thank you, dear readers, for sticking with me. I know I haven't been much of a blogger.  I'm just so thankful for Springtime and good friends.
